William J. Previte, D.O.
Dr. Previte is an orthopaedic surgeon who specialized in arthroscopy and the treatment of all sports-related and industrial injuries, including open and arthroscopic treatment of the knee, ankle, shoulder, and elbow for over 32 years.
A 1974 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, Dr. Previte earned a bachelor's degree in biology. He received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1979 and served an internship at Tripler Army Medical Center. Dr. Previte completed his orthopaedic residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1984. He functioned as an active duty staff orthopaedic surgeon in the Army for three years thereafter, at stateside and oversees military hospitals and completed military service at Fort Benning, where he treated various orthopaedic injuries for Airborne and Special Forces groups. He completed a sports medicine fellowship with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama prior to settling in San Diego in 1988.
Dr. Previte has extensive experience in evaluating and treating injured workers and returning them safely back to work. He is currently a QME and an IME. He has served on the Board of Directors of the California Society of Industrial Medicine Specialists and maintains current continuing education credit into this dynamic and everchanging field of Orthopaedics.
Dr. Previte's professional affiliations has included memberships in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Sports Medicine Institute, Society of Military Osteopathic Surgeons, Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, American College of Forensic Examiners, California Medical Association, California Orthopaedic Association, Western Orthopaedic Association, and San Diego County Medical Society. Dr. Previte previously held a position as clinical instructor with University of California, San Diego and Western University of Health Sciences.
